We had our very first session with our fourth country, Rwanda on May 9th! It was a lot of fun getting to know basic phrases in each other's language and talking about our normal days in our own countries. Both Japanese and Rwandese participants seemed to have really enjoyed learning new languages:)
In Japan, people pretty much only use Japanese, at least in public. However, in contrast, in Rwanda, many people use four different languages, Kinyarwanda, English, French, and Swahili depending on the settings and situations. Especially given that there are not many quadrilingual individuals in Japan, many of the Japanese participants looked really impressed and surprised! All in all, it was an absolute pleasure and joy to meet new friends:)
